The second edition of Sjón took place in VerdensKulturCentret, Copenhagen, March 2018.
The theme was FOODWAYS. Just like in our first year, we asked all the big questions and accepted no easy answers.
What is food? How much of our day-to-days do we devote to thinking about, planning, or consuming food? Is one bite more moral than another? Can food help you travel back in time… or space?
In our FOODWAYS exploration, we were guided by Harris, Lyon & McLaughlin’s The Meaning of Food:
“…everything about eating including what we consume, how we acquire it, who prepares it and who’s at the table – is a form of communication rich with meaning. Our attitudes, practices and rituals around food are a window onto our most basic beliefs about the world and ourselves.”
