The festival began in February 2017. The open call theme was FILMINUTES, and we screened 31 films from around the world. Before the screening there was a talk with Emelie Tullio (FR) about visual and sensory approaches to doing fieldwork, and after the screening there was a movement workshop with Casper Hernández Cordes (DK).
Our second event was held in March 2018 at VerdensKulturCentret, with the theme of FOODWAYS. We received over 450 submissions and screened just under 40 titles. Besides the screenings, we had workshops from anthropologists working with food – such as Susanne Højlund (DK) and Jonas Grøn (DK) – installations on migrating foods, and of course, delicious food served by our friends at SendFlereKrydderier.
For our third edition (March 2019), the theme was SONANCE. The quality or state of being sonant, a sound. The term encompasses all the different ways humans perceive and interact with their soundscapes and sound waves. Human-made or otherwise.
The fourth edition (Nov 2020) will have as its theme SOLASTALGIA. Coined by environmental philosopher Glenn Albrecht, “solastalgia is the distress that is produced by environmental change impacting on people while they are directly connected to their home environment.”
